Calculator Use

Graphing, scientificand multi-function computers are acceptable or used in certain practice (r) tests. Unless it is specifically stipulated that a calculator is allowed in a particular test however, calculators cannot be utilized.

Test takers aren't permitted to use calculators with others.

Tests That Do Not Permit Use of a Calculator

In general, unless it is explicitly stated that a certain type of calculator is permitted or required to pass a particular test, calculators cannot be used on any test. test.

Tests That Permit the Use of a Calculator

You may use a quadruple or scientific calculator for taking the Middle School: Content Knowledge (5146) test, although there is no requirement to use it. You will need to bring your personal calculator to the testing center. One is not provided by the center for testing. A graphing calculator is not allowed for this test.

Types of CalculatorsThat Are Not Permitted

The following items are not allowed in Praxis exams:

  • Laptops or portable computers that can be carried around
  • Electronic writing pads
  • Models with pen-input/stylus/touch-screen capability
  • Calculators on phones, watches or other electronic devices
  • Models with QWERTY and other alphabetic keypads as part of either software or hardware
  • Printing models
  • Models that produce noise or "talk"
  • Models that require an electrical outlet
  • Models that can access the internet or have Wireless or Bluetooth (r) capability.
  • Models with cameras with scanning capabilities, the ability to record or play digital audio/video

Furthermore, the use of any hardware peripherals is prohibited.

Tests That Provide an On-screen Calculator

Test taker-supplied calculators are not allowed on Praxis exams which have calculators on screen.

On-Screen Scientific Calculator

The next practice tests feature an on-screen scientific calculator. The tests are based on an TX-30XS MultiView(tm) calculator. A tutorial is available to ensure you can get used to the calculator's on-screen interface prior to test day.

This set of Practice tests provide an on-screen graphing calculator. The tests make use of using the TI-84 Plus CE calculator. There is a tutorial available so you can try out the on-screen calculator before your exam day.
